Conversion Rate Optimization

Get More Customers Out of the Traffic You Already Have

Most sites don’t have a traffic problem. They have a “visitors arrive, and leave” problem. We find where that happens on your site, using recordings and data rather than opinions, then test the fixes to prove results.

Conversion rate optimization is the practice of increasing the percentage of your existing visitors who take a valuable action — buying, booking, calling or submitting a form — by diagnosing where they hesitate or drop out and testing changes until more of them finish. It raises revenue without raising ad spend, because it improves what happens after the click rather than buying more clicks.

Where the Money Is Actually Leaking

Conversion Pain Point - Traffic Bounces
You are paying for traffic that bounces
Your ads and your search rankings are doing their job — people arrive. Then most of them read one screen and go. Buying more of that traffic multiplies the cost of the leak instead of fixing it.
Conversion Pain Point - Forms Too Long
Your form is longer than your patience
Every extra field, every unexplained required box, every “we’ll be in touch” with no timeframe costs you finished submissions. Most of the forms we inherit ask for things nobody needs until the second conversation.
Conversion Pain Point - Funnel Drop Off
Nobody knows why people drop out
Analytics tells you that 76% abandoned the checkout. It does not tell you that the shipping cost appears for the first time on step three. Without recordings and funnel data, every fix is a guess with a bill attached.
Conversion Pain Point - Redesigns Without Testing
You redesigned, and redesigned, and redesigned — instead of testing
A full redesign changes a hundred things at once, so when the numbers move you cannot tell which change did it — and if they move down, you have no way back. We change things deliberately, one testable idea at a time.

What changes instead

What Changes with Proper CRO

The same traffic earns more
Your ads and your search rankings are doing their job — people arrive. Then most of them read one screen and go. Buying more of that traffic multiplies the cost of the leak instead of fixing it.
Your ad spend goes further
When more visitors convert, your cost per lead falls without touching a bid. It also widens the range of keywords and audiences that are profitable enough to be worth buying at all.
You find out why, not just what
You end up with recordings, funnel data and test results that tell you how your buyers actually decide. That informs your ads, your email and your sales calls, not only your website.
Changes stop being arguments
“I don’t like that colour” gets settled by a test instead of by whoever is most senior in the room. Decisions get faster because they stop being matters of personal opinion, taste, or ego.

What’s included

What Conversion Optimization With Us Includes

Know exactly where visitors give up
Behavioural analysis
We install heatmaps, scroll maps and session recordings, then watch real sessions on the pages that matter. You get a documented list of drop-off points with the recording that proves each one, not a list of best practices.
See the drop-off in your own numbers
Funnel & analytics audit
We rebuild your conversion tracking in GA4 and Google Tag Manager so the funnel is measured correctly before we change anything. Half the CRO engagements we start begin with tracking that was quietly counting the wrong thing.
Fix the page, not the theme
Landing page optimisation
Headline, offer, form, proof, mobile layout and page speed, worked in priority order. We rewrite and rebuild the pages your money already lands on rather than proposing a new website.
Prove the change before you keep it
A/B and split testing
One hypothesis at a time, run until the result is real rather than until it looks good. Losing tests get reverted and documented, because knowing what does not work on your audience is worth keeping.
Recover the sales that nearly happened
Abandoned cart & form recovery
For ecommerce and lead-gen alike, the people who got most of the way through are your cheapest remaining conversions. We set up the sequences that go after them, wired into your existing email platform.
Stop paying twice for the same visitor
Retention & repeat conversion
Post-purchase and post-enquiry follow-up, so a converted visitor has a reason to come back. Cheaper than acquiring the next one, and almost always the most neglected part of a funnel.

How it Works

How the Work Actually Runs

StepWhat we doWhat you do
Measurement firstWeek 1Audit your existing GA4 and GTM setup, fix or rebuild conversion tracking, and install heatmaps and session recording on your key pagesGive us access to GA4, Google Tag Manager, your site and your ad accounts. Tell us which conversion action is genuinely worth money to you.
DiagnosisWeeks 2-3Watch real sessions, map the funnel, and produce a prioritised list of conversion problems ranked by likely impact against effort to fix.One working session to review the findings. You will recognise more of them than you expect.
First fixesWeeks 3-5Implement the changes that are obvious wins and do not need proving — broken mobile layouts, forms asking for the unnecessary, missing trust signals, slow pages.Approve copy and offer changes. Give us a decision within a few days so momentum holds.
Testing programmeOngoing – MonthlyRun one test at a time against a written hypothesis, leave it up long enough to be believable, then keep the winner and document the loser.Resist the urge to call a test after two days. We will show you why.
Reporting, Rinsing, RepeatingMonthlyReport conversion rate, conversions and revenue against the baseline we set in step one, with what we learned and what we are testing next.Thirty minutes to an hour on a call. Tell us what changed in the business, since that usually changes the priority list.

What This Looks Like in Practice

Case Study

Home services client, Southeast US

Situation

Strong paid search performance on clicks, weak on booked jobs. The quote form asked for eleven fields including a preferred appointment window before the visitor knew what anything cost.

What We Did

Rebuilt the form to reduce required fields, added the phone number as a tap-to-call button on mobile, moved click-to-dial buttons above the fold, then tested two headline variants against the original.
Result – 4 months
Form completions up 42%, cost per booked job down 36%, in first 90 days. No change in ad spend.

No one but NO ONE can convert lookers into buyers like the team at The Conversion Mill. I highly recommend this company. The services pay for themselves.

Let’s Get Started

How We Work Together

Minimum engagement

CRO needs enough traffic and enough time for a test to mean anything. We recommend a of 3000 unique sessions per month to a unique landing page and at least three months for testing and optimization.

Who does the work

The same people you meet on the first call. We are a team of five in Dacula, Georgia, and nothing here is subcontracted.

What you need to have

Enough traffic for testing to be valid — as a rough guide, 30+ conversions a month on the page we are testing. Below that, we will tell you to spend the money on traffic first.

Tools included

Heatmapping, session recording and testing tools are included in the engagement. You do not need to buy separate subscriptions.

Reporting

A monthly report against the baseline set in week one, plus a call. Every test we run is documented, including the ones that lost.

Getting out

Everything we build — tracking, tests, documentation — stays in your accounts.

Why Us?

Why The Conversion Mill

No account manage relaying messages to a subcontractor you’ll never meet. The people who audit your site are the same people who fix it — and you’ll know them by name. We built the stack we use for CRO ourselves — including the auditing tools that will be reviewing your landing page.

Questions?

Questions We Get Asked

How much traffic do I need before CRO is worth it?

Enough that a test can reach a believable result in a reasonable time. As a rough guide we look for 40 conversions a month on the page being tested. Below that, the honest answer is that your money is better spent getting more traffic first, and we will tell you that on the first call rather than after you sign.

How long before I see results?

The fixes that do not need testing — broken mobile layouts, over-long forms, missing trust signals — usually ship in the first 2-3 weeks, and their effect shows up immediately. A proper A/B test can take days, weeks, or longer to reach a result you can trust based on how much traffic and how many conversions your landing page gets each month. Anyone promising a measured lift in the first fortnight is either lucky or reading noise.

Can you guarantee a specific increase in conversion rate?

No, and you should be wary of anyone who does. We can guarantee that the tracking will be correct, that the tests will be run properly, and that we will tell you what worked and what did not. The size of the lift depends on your traffic, your offer, and how much low-hanging fruit your site currently has.

Do I need to redesign my website?

Almost never, and we will usually argue against it. A redesign changes everything at once, which makes it impossible to know what helped and leaves you no way back if conversions fall. We change specific things for specific reasons and keep the ones that win.

What is the difference between CRO and SEO?

SEO is about how many of the right people arrive by looking up your products or services through a search engine like Google. CRO is about how many of them do something once they are here. They work best together — sending more traffic to a page that converts poorly is the most expensive mistake in digital marketing, and ranking a page nobody acts on is the second.

Do you work with our existing developer or agency?

Yes, frequently. Or as we like to say, “We play well with others.” We can hand over prioritised, specific changes for your own team to implement, or implement them ourselves if you would rather. What we need either way is a way to get changes live within days rather than quarters, because a testing campaign stalls without it.

What tools do you use?

Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager for measurement, heatmapping and session recording for behaviour, and A/B testing tools chosen to fit your platform. All of it is set up in your accounts, so you keep it if we part ways.
